Marathi Film Review Johnson Thomas A whacky entertaining comedy Film: Jhakaas Cast: Ankush Chaudhari, Amruta Khanvilkar, Pooja Sawant,Sai Tamhankar, Jitendra Joshi,Pushkar Jog, Vikas Samudre, Sanjay Khapre, Jayawant Wadkar, Atul Parchure Director: Ankush Chaudhari Rating: * * * Taking the cue from Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s ‘Golmaal’, ‘Rang Birangi’ and Kundan Shah’s ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron’, Ankush Chaudhari frames a rib-tickling comedy about a man who manages to convince three women about his three different personas.. until he gets found out by the three women’s wannabe paramours.. until he gets found out by the three womens’ wannabe paramours. All hell breaks loose thereafter. Mix-ups galore with the three women ending up married to men tied-up in gunny sacks-each of them believing they are married to the man of their desire. .. It’s quite an improbable set-up but the free-wheeling treatment and superbly timed performances allow for suspension of disbelief. And once you get laughing you just don’t stop. Mistaken identities, cover-ups, masquerades and a lot of running around trying to be at the right place at the right time, allow for a whole lot of goof-ups and impromptu make-believe, enough to tickle your funny bone and keep you in splits. After the initial hick-up of a slightly un-assured opening, the narrative clicks along at a steady pace with plenty of sight gags, verbal and situational comic moments. Ankush Chaudhary as the man who cons three women, Sai Tamhankar playing a photographer, Amruta Khanvilkar-a spunky, spirited woman from the koli community and Puja Sawant, as the enterprising owner of an ad agency, puts on a good show, as do all his heroines and side-kick friend. There is no pretence to high-end intelligence here. For sure, Ankush Choudhary's debut directorial venture is one hell of a joy ride. It's a smartly orchestrated rib-tickler that gets you guffawing all the way to the end
